Missguided Haul

Hi Everyone,

I had a big ol’ splurge on the missguided website the other day and I thought I’d write a little post about some of the great bits I got, and also some of the not so great bits. As we all know with online shopping it can be totally hit or miss, and for me, material is a make or break issue, so some of the items I ordered I will be returning due to material, some because of cut, and some cos.. you know, they were just hideous in non-cyber form.

So, just in case you don’t know, although you’ve probably fathomed by now, missguided is an online fashion website (you can visit the website here). I went a bit mental on missguided, this was actually during my juice detox, so I think that goes someway into explaining my lapse in control. Another reason is because when you have a scroll through, they have tons of really lovely pieces that are just crying out for your shopping basket. The collection is so summery right now and definitely worth a look. I won’t show you all of the stuff I got, since some of it is really quite dull and also if I did, I think this post might turn into novel. Let’s jump right in:

First up is this cute little Popita Palm Tree Strappy Playsuit at £19.99

Image

I absolutely adore the print on this playsuit. It’s fully lined fortuately so the white/cream colour isn’t going to be see-through in any way. On the website it says that this playsuit is 95% polyester. This is very common for missguided, there is an insane percentage of polyester going on in all of their clothes; however with this the material really doesn’t feel bad at all. It actually feels a bit silky. Be warned though if you’re interested in this piece, it is short. I am thinking of this for a holiday, mainly because I don’t really wear very short things in the UK out and about that often, and I’d probably not get taken that seriously if I started wearing hot pants to work! So this is strictly holiday for me to wear by itself. I was, however, thinking about teaming it with some black tights and ankle boots and a black leather jacket.. so we’ll see how that goes. But yes, liking this. Keep.

Next I’ll stick with the palm tree theme, is this Palika Palm Print A-Line Dress which was £24.99.

Image

I think this is my favourite item in my haul. It looks SO chic on. The material is actually that strange scuba material, so again even though it’s white, it’s not see-through. I adore the print just at the bottom of the dress. The picture doesn’t show it so well, but the bottom of the dress isn’t white it’s a slightly pale grey/lilac/brown colour. This dress comes up quite large, so if you wanted it to be quite floaty I’d order your actual size, but if not I’d suggest a size down. I cannot wait to wear this one!

Next, I’ll show you something I wasn’t so impressed by. The Lisea Strawberry Print Bandeau Playsuit, £14.99

Image

I was a little disappointed with this one, since I really thought it would be so cute. Love the print, love the general style, however the cut just didn’t work. Unfortunately the material on the bandeau top kept rolling around the elasticated seam, so I felt as though I kept having to constantly unroll it to prevent the inner material from showing. This is one I am going to have to send back. I know for £14.99 I can’t exactly expect it to be perfect, but I need more clothes like I need a whole in the head so I am not inclined to keep this one for the print alone. Especially since, embarrassingly, I also bought the shorts that come in this print (Milisa Strawberry Print Shorts, £9.99 – which I love).

Yet another playsuit; Fleurette Abstract Floral Print Playsuit, £29.99

Image

For missguided, this is on the pricier end of the spectrum, so I umm-ed and ahh-ed about this for ages. In the end, I decided I loved the print too much to not get it, and I’m glad I did. The colours in this are so vibrant and gorgeous, and the shape of the cut at the sleeve is really different. It’s not as short as it looks in the picture, but it is pretty form fitting, so I think I’ll save mine for a night out at some point.

Next was a total and utter fail. The Lissie Lilac Bandeau Colour Block Mini Dress, £29.99

Image

When I saw this online I thought it would be so pretty. When I tried it on however it was just a disaster. The material is quite crepe-y, it is also 100% polyester, so in my opinion £29.99 is a bit too steep for that kind of quality material. The biggest issue with this however was the cut. Horrendous. The bandeau top was cut so large that it kept slipping down, while the bottom was uncomfortably tight, and oh-so unflattering. Unless your shape is that of Courtney Stodden, I urge you to stay away from this little mini.

Last but not least, is this amazing neon dress; Odeta Neon Orange 90s Strappy Mini Shift Dress, £19.99

Image

That neon tag is no joke. This dress is NEON. It’s quite a slinky little number, fully lined, and the colour is just amazing. You will definitely not get lost wearing this! Once again, I’m saving this for holidays, or super hot days, because it’s so light and comfortable. The neckline is a bit different and I think it will look so cute with a statement necklace. The downside to this one is that it creases like crazy, and annoyingly, it’s hand wash only. But still, am very pleased with this.

So that’s the end of the bits I’ll show you from my missguided haul, please let me know your thoughts 🙂

I hope you enjoyed reading and pop back in a day or so for more!

Miss Mimi’s Haul

Hi Everyone,

I thought I’d take a few pictures and show you some of the amazing stuff that my little sister just got from J-Crew and Igloo. She is six and a half years old and has some amazing pieces in her wardrobe, and this new stuff is just too cute for words. She’s also going to be helping me write this as she’s got some pretty great insights.

Here’s an overview of her haul, and as you can see this stuff is just adorable and J-Crew has really hit the nail of the head here.

Image

Mimi really enjoys these pieces because she says that the top, skirt and shoes all match nicely and the dress, shoes and necklace also go together so it’s nice to be able to mix-and-match.

To start off is this beautiful four strand pearl necklace with pink and white striped ribbon tie:

Image

I love this necklace, it’s such a cute way to spruce up any outfit she’s wearing. I’ve seen her put this with some cool t-shirts or with some more formal dresses and it always looks great. The tie ribbon adds a little bit of fun to the necklace so it’s not too grown-up but is just so pretty. This was from J-Crew, although not in their most recent collection. But they are always stocking some lovely children’s jewellery and hairbands that are really worth checking out.

Next up is this beautiful pastel blue skirt from J-Crew:

Image

This has an elasticated waist on it and is about mid-thigh length on her. It’s such a flowy, soft material with some slight pleat detailing which is super cute. It’s fully lined as well which is a bonus! Paired with a t-shirt and some converses this is a great casual outfit, or alternatively match it with a blouse and some sparkly pumps and this is perfect outfit for a party.

Next up is a smock shirt from the same collection, which is also pastel blue, with white stripes and an orange, navy and teal embroidered detail on the front:

This shirt blew Mimi’s mummy away! And I have to admit it is pretty darn amazing. Pop this on over some jeans or leggings, tucked into a skirt – you name it this shirt works with it. The detail on it is so lovely and the pop of colour on the front is really on trend too. Another J-Crew winner.

This dress, also from J-Crew, is one of my personal favourite items in her entire wardrobe. I just think it’s gorgeous.

Image

This dress is a brilliant summer statement piece. The colour clash of the pastel pink and pop of orange just works fantastically. It’s in a really light cotton material and is super comfortable as well. I can’t rave about this piece enough! I just think it’s so, so lovely and I’m sure she’ll get tons of wear out of it, since she absolutely loves it as well because her favourite colour is orange!

Finally I just wanted to pop in these shoes from Igloo, which she got a couple of weeks ago, and she says they are incredible. These are a pair of patent baby pink loafers, in the style of Sperry Topsiders:

These shoes are just friggin’ amazing. They could not be any sweeter. Mimi loves these, for the colour and the design. She says they are so comfortable  and have fantastic grip on them as you can see from the picture. She’s planning to wear these with jeans, skirts, dresses absolutely everything – I think these will become her go-to shoes on a daily basis. I’m sure if she was allowed to wear them to school she would!

That’s all for Miss Mimi’s haul right now, but we’ll be back soon I’m sure!

Thanks for reading!

Holiday Haul

Hi Everyone,

I thought I’d share with you some great bits that I picked up recently on the high street before my holiday to Turkey. I’ve been super chuffed with all these pieces and they’ve seriously vamped up my never ending quest for the perfect spring/summer wardrobe.

First off, a couple of pieces from Warehouse. I luckily (or unluckily for my bank balance) work very close to a great Warehouse near Bank tube station in London. Even though it’s small, it seems to stock some fantastic bits and is constantly changing and forever having sales. The first purchase I made in there was this brilliant strapless jumpsuit:

warehouseblackjumpsuita46531a0e1baf14604

This is the most comfortable item of clothing I think I own! I wore this on the plane out and it was just brilliant. It’s such a great piece. It’s so casual and looks great with either some sandals or some funky pumps (I wore mine with a pair of black slipper style pumps from Office). I paired this with a black blazer and some gold statement jewellery and it just looked so chic. This comes also in a blue/grey colour and is a not a bad price at all at £32.

Next from warehouse is this gorgeous “Geo” bikini:

warehousebikiniab42a5e42cfefce16f6c31ee5

I love the print on this. It’s got a kind of tribal/ikat thing going on, and the electric Yves Klein blue colour is a stunner (looks even better with a bit of a tan!) Both the top and bottom fastens with the ties, and it’s practical as well, since the halter string can easily be unfastened to avoid tan lines, without having an awkward flashing moment. The top remained nicely in place I’m pleased to say. This was not the cheapest bikini I’ve ever bought in my life, but it’s still not a bank balance buster at £16 for the top and £14 for the bottoms.

My next item is a pair of sandals (“Alishia Leaf Sandals”) from Accessorize. I was desperately on the hunt for some more dressy sandals, and I just kept finding really basic looking pairs or some seriously blingy pairs that were just not the look I was after at all. The only ones I saw other than the pair I bought were a pair of Ted Baker sandals that were pretty gorgeous, but I didn’t want to spend an extortionate amount. I finally came across these beauties, and I am chuffed to bits with them:

This picture really doesn’t do them justice, these are so, so pretty and I can now vouch also for their comfort. This picture is of them in the silver, I actually bought mine in the gold (although the leaf detail is identical on both pairs). At £35 they’re a pretty mid-range item, but they’re so worth it! I’ve received so many compliments on these every time I wear them and they’re just excellent. They’re also just neutral enough to work with pretty much whatever you’re wearing, so nice and versatile. I know that these are selling out pretty fast both in stores and online, so I’d get in quick while they’re still available if these tickle your fancy.

Next up are a couple of necklaces that I picked up in Forever 21. This first one is such a great colour. It’s called the “Free Spirit Natural Stone” necklace, and is a complete bargain at £8.90. I love popping this on over any monochrome print, it gives the outfit a real pop of colour. This necklace actually feels more expensive than it is since the stones on it have some weight to them, so it feels a bit sturdier than other inexpensive necklaces I’ve had in the past.

The next necklace is also from Forever 21 and is pretty, pretty, pretty. This one looks so lovely over a round-necked t-shirt or jumper, or just peeping out from under a blazer. It’s still really neutral tones so again, versatile, but bang on trend and looks fab. At £12.90 you can’t go wrong.

As an aside here, Forever 21 are doing buy 2 get 1 free on their jewellery at the moment, so definitely worth popping across to take a look, especially since their jewellery range is ginormous, so even if these aren’t for you, I’m sure you’d find something in there to suit you.

Last but by no means least is this lovely little number:

topshopredstripeteewithfringe8e3875f8148

This is a red and white stripe tassel top from Topshop. I’m a big t-shirt girl, and I just could not resist the adorable tassel detail on this one. I paired it with a pair of denim shorts and my converses, a high bun and some Ray Bans. It’s a really fun, playful top which is a little bit different from your average T-shirt. It’s a bit cropped, but the tassel adds some length to it (since I’m not crazy about this whole crop top trend that’s going round) so this was a good length for me. Also, the shorts I teamed it with are high waisted so there was no belly-button peaking out! My only gripe here is that it’s a bit pricey at £34 (this is a gripe I seem to have a lot with Topshop), but I still couldn’t resist!

That’s all for my little holiday haul, I hope you enjoyed reading and pop back for more soon!
